John Howard

Partner – Investments and Portfolio Management

Prior to joining Grey Rock, Mr. Howard was Managing Director for Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, establishing the Houston office in 2016 and responsible for energy investment strategy, acquisitions, and investment management in oil and gas upstream and midstream transactions.

Prior to joining Macquarie, Mr. Howard was a co-founder, officer and Board Member for several private equity portfolio companies including Century Midstream (First Reserve), Bayside Resources and Foothills Resources (Regiment Capital Advisors), and Concert Capital Resources (Morgan Stanley Private Capital).

In addition, Mr. Howard served as Senior Vice President for Strategy and Development for NiSource, Inc. where he was responsible for the company’s upstream operations and assets (500,000 acres) and establishment of NiSource’s unregulated midstream assets in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays including Pennant Midstream where he acted as Chairman. Prior to these endeavors, Mr. Howard held senior commercial positions at KN Energy, Kinder Morgan, and the Williams Companies.

Mr. Howard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences from the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas, as well as Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Houston. Mr. Howard is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and federal court system. Mr. Howard is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Association of Petroleum Geologists.
